A native plant of central & northern Europe and northern Asia. This hardy deciduous shrub that can grow to 1.8 metres. Blackcurrants can tolerate heavy wet clay soils and will grow in semi shade but yields will be higher and fruit ripen faster in full sun.
A very delicious berry that can be eaten raw or cooked and are often made into drinks & desserts. modern varieties have been bred to produce really large berries.
Price is for one 30-40cm bare root plant. Roots will be wrapped in a compostable cornstarch bag for transport.
We are working to reduce horticultural plastic by growing more plants in deep beds and supplying them bare rooted.
