Diana Powell Permaculture Orchard

Diana originally trained in textile design & has worked in many fields from theatre costume production to illustration, timber processing and building work. Her journey into ecological design began in 1993 with a Permaculture Design Course, sparking a lifelong passion for sustainable growing systems. In 2018, she joined the Avon Wildlife Trust’s Grow Leader course, refining her skills in cultivating unusual edible crops and helping to develop the Trust’s forest garden. In October 2024 she trained in Syntropic agriculture in the Netherlands. She is a co-founder of Three Hares Organics CIC, a collective of growers developing a regenerative farm in North Somerset. From there, she runs Fieldfare Orchard, a permaculture plant nursery. She is also developing an experimental Syntropic Orchard.

Fieldfare Orchard is inspired by the work of Martin Wolfe at Waklyn’s, Stefan Sobkowiak at Miracle Farm The Permaculture Orchard, Ernst Götch’s Syntropy, Elaine Ingham’s Soil Food Web School, the Miyawaki method and Masanobu Fukuoka’s book ‘The One Straw Revolution’. Diana’s work is driven by a deep fascination with tree-based and perennial food systems — exploring how diverse, living landscapes can nourish both people and the planet.

From winter 2024 she is joined by Helen Ford & Rosy Garland. Bio’s coming soon…
