Asturian Kale - 2 cuttings
Brassica oleracea var ramosa
An extremely hardy true perennial kale, although more cabbage than kale in it’s habit and leaf shape. Probably descended from the wild European cabbages that can sometimes be seen along our coast. Growing more than a metre tall in a couple of years Daubenton Kale just goes on and on. It very rarely flowers and seems to happily bounce back from pigeon and caterpillar attacks. The leaves are a little tougher than annual kales but this cabbage really comes into it’s own during the ‘hungry gap’ when annual kales are getting tired. Particularly good after frost which seems to improve both flavour & texture.
Price is for two stem cuttings.
